An Okay Airways Boeing 737-800, registration B-5578 performing flight BK-2769 from Changsa to Qingdao (China), was climbing out of Changsa when the crew stopped the climb at about FL250 reporting engine (CFM56) trouble and returned to Changsa for a safe landing about 45 minutes after departure and taxied to the apron. After engine shut down maintenance began to check the left hand engine and opened the engine doors when the engine began to emit smoke. Passengers disembarked normally.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration B-1732 reached Qingdao with a delay of about 3 hours.

The airline reported a hydraulic pump in the left hand engine had failed.
