A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-GTWS performing flight WS-461 from Calgary,AB to Kelowna,BC (Canada), was on approach to Kelowna at 7500 feet MSL about 19nm northnortheast of Kelowna, when air traffic control issued a traffic alert of an unidentified VFR target at the same altitude on opposite converging track in 1.4nm distance. The crew of the Westjet Boeing took evasive action and continued for a safe landing in Kelowna.

The Canadian TSB reported the occurrence posed a risk of collision, the evasive action started when the aircraft were at the same altitude and a distance of 1.4nm horizontal, the aircraft passed at a separation of 0.8nm horizontal and 500 feet vertical.
