A Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-GWJO performing flight WS-310 from Comox,BC to Calgary,AB (Canada) with 119 people on board, was enroute when the crew observed a low oil quantity indication for the right hand engine (CFM56), reduced the engine to idle and contacted maintenance. While talking to maintenance the crew observed a further reduction in oil quantity followed by low oil pressure and high oil temperature indications. The crew shut the engine down, declared Mayday and requested emergency services on standby for landing at Calgary. The aircraft landed safely in Calgary.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found metal debris in the right hand engine's gear box, the engine was replaced. The TSB added, that three days earlier the right hand engine had shown a low oil quantity indication during startup in Seattle,WA (USA), the engine was shut down and a third party maintenance added 13 quarts of oil. The engine was ground run with no leaks found and released to service.
