Passengers reported that there was a loud bang and flash while climbing out of Keflavik. Soon after the captain announced that they had been struck by lightning, all systems worked normally and they were continuing to Denver. Upon disembarking a large hole was seen at the nose cone.
The airline confirmed the aircraft was struck by lightning shortly after takeoff from Keflavik, lightning strikes are a rather common occurrence. The crew performed a complete check of the aircraft and its systems for any anomalies, being satisfied that all systems were working normally and there were no anomalies in the handling of the aircraft the crew continued to Denver.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Denver 41 hours after landing.
