An Aerosvit Boeing 737-500, registration UR-AAM performing flight VV-205 from Kiev (Ukraine) to Sofia (Bulgaria), was climbing out of Kiev when the crew observed the cabin did not pressurize properly and assumed a problem with the cabin sealing. The aircraft returned to Kiev for a safe landing.

Ukraine's Ministry of Transport reported that maintenance subsequently identified a coincidence of following factors contributing to the cabin not pressurizing correctly:

- pressure regulator and bleed air control valve operating incorrectly
- the right hand engine did not supply bleed air
- the upper pressure emergency relief valve was not tightly closed resulting in increased leakage of cabin air

The causes of the valve malfunctions could not be determined.
