The occurrence aircraft was able to position back to Melbourne as flight TT-9020 about 4 hours after landing.
A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration VH-VNC positioned to Adelaide and continued the flight the following evening as flight TT-9413, departing Adelaide about 27 hours after landing, and reached Perth with a delay of 28:45 hours.
The airline reported the aircraft diverted as a precaution due to a strange smell on board, the passengers were taken to hotels and taken to Perth the following day.
