A Tiger Airways Australia Airbus A320-200, registration VH-XUH performing flight TT-471 from Melbourne,VI to Adelaide,SA (Australia), was climbing out of Melbourne when the crew stopped the climb at FL240 due to a lightning strike at the left hand wing. The crew decided to return to Melbourne, where the aircraft landed safely about 55 minutes after departure.

The aircraft returned to service about 13 hours after landing.

The airline confirmed the aircraft experienced a lightning strike.
