A Helvetic Airlines Fokker 100 on behalf of Swiss, registration HB-JVF performing flight LX-1884 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Bucharest Otopeni (Romania), was spooling engines up for takeoff from runway 28 when the crew observed an unusual EGT indication for the left hand engine (MK650) and rejected takeoff. The aircraft returned to the apron vacating the runway via taxiway K (first available exit 550 meters down the runway).

A replacement Swiss Airbus A320-200 registration HB-IJD departed Zurich about 2.5 hours later and reached Bucharest with a delay of 2:15 hours.
