Sky Regionl E175 enroute on Feb 5th 2015, engine problems on two consecutive flights

A Sky Regional Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of Air Canada, registration C-FEJF performing flight RS-7487/AC-7487 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was enroute at FL340 northeast of Dallas Ft. Worth when the crew received "A/T Fail" and "ENG TLA TRIM FAIL" indications. The crew worked the related checklists, the messages disappeared, the crew was unable to select autothrust back on however. A few minutes later the messages re-appeared. At the top of descent 130nm northeast of Dallas all indications for the left hand engine (CF34) were removed from the displays. The captain took control of the aircraft, the first officer radioed Mayday and requested direct to Dallas. The aircraft landed safely on Dallas' runway 35C.

The Canadian TSB reported on Feb 27th 2015, that emergency services found no anomalies with the aircraft, which taxied to the apron. Maintenance replaced the FADEC computer of the left hand engine, no further faults were found and the aircraft returned to service.

The following day (Feb 6th), about 19.5 hours after landing, the aircraft departed for the return flight RS-7575/AC-7575 and was enroute, when the same faults occurred again. The aircraft landed safely in Toronto.

The TSB reported that maintenance following the troubleshooting guidance replaced the Generic Input Output Module 1, Actuated Input Output Processor in the Modular Avionics Unit and the Thrust Control Quadrant. Tests revealed no further faults and the aircraft returned to service.
