An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-175, registration C-FEJF performing flight AC-513 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 71 people on board, was climbing through FL240 out of Toronto when the crew received a "BATT 2 OVERTEMP" message. The crew actioned the relevant checklists, declared PAN and returned to Toronto for a safe overweight landing on runway 15L about 30 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found a damaged backshell at a wire connector, replaced the backshell and battery #2, verified downloaded information and determined no overweight landing inspection was needed.
