A Lufthansa Embraer ERJ-190, registration D-AECA performing flight LH-1489 from Minsk (Belarus) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 94 passengers, was climbing out of Minsk when the crew stopped the climb at 10,000 feet when the flaps could not be retracted. The aircraft returned to Minsk for a safe landing at a normal landing speed about 30 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

The occurrence aircraft was repaired and departed for a positioning flight LH-9931 to Frankfurt about 2 hours after landing. The aircraft resumed service about 7.5 hours after landing back in Minsk.

The airline confirmed technical problems with the flaps, the aircraft was repaired and positioned to Frankfurt empty for further checks. The passengers were distributed onto other flights.
