An Air Asia Airbus A320-200, registration 9M-AJN performing flight AK-5123 (dep Nov 17th) from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), landed on Kuala Lumpur's runway 32L at 00:27L (16:27Z Nov 17th) but went around after touch down. The aircraft climbed back to 7000 feet, positioned for another approach and landed on runway 32L about 20 minutes after the balked landing.

The aircraft received substantial damage when during the balked landing the tail struck onto the runway.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Kuala Lumpur (standing Dec 5th).
