A KLM Boeing 777-200, registration PH-BQD performing flight KL-706 from Rio de Janeiro,RJ (Brazil) to Amsterdam (Netherlands), was enroute at FL330 about 100nm east of Salvador,BA (Brazil) when the crew decided to return to Rio de Janeiro due to a cracked passenger window. The aircraft descended to FL120 for the return and landed safely back in Rio de Janeiro about 135 minutes after the decision to return.

The airline confirmed a technical problem. The more than 300 passengers were taken to hotels.

Passengers reported a passenger window had cracked.
