An Etihad Airbus A340-600, registration A6-EHI performing flight EY-12 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), was enroute at FL350 about 50nm northwest of Bratislava (Slovakia) in the hand off from Czech to Slovakia's air traffic control when the #2 engine (Trent 556, inboard left) failed. The crew descended the aircraft to FL310, over Hungary further down to FL290 and managed to restart the engine. The aircraft climbed back to FL330, continued the flight to Abu Dhabi step climbing up to FL390 and landed safely in Abu Dhabi.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Abu Dhabi for about 27 hours before resuming service.
