A Chautauqua Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N273SK performing flight RP-6077/DL-6077 from Columbus,OH to New York,JFK (USA) with 47 people on board, departed Columbus' runway 28R. Some time after departure tyre debris was spotted on the departure runway in Columbus, the crew was informed but was not sure whether it was one of their tyres that had blown. The crew decided to continue the flight to New York, where the crew performed a low approach to runway 22L to have the landing gear inspected from the ground. Following the overflight the crew was told that it appeared all tyres were intact by reports from emergency services and tower checking the gear. The aircraft positioned for another approach and landed safely on JFK's runway 22L about 110 minutes after departure and 10 minutes after the low approach. Emergency services detected during inspection of the aircraft that the inboard right hand main tyre was still inflated but tread had separated and debris from the tyre had also caused damage to the flaps and fuselage.
