An American Airlines Boeing 757-200, registration N622AA performing flight AA-205 from Orlando,FL to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was enroute at FL380 about 150nm southeast of Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Dallas for a safe landing on Dallas' runway 35R about 30 minutes later.

A passenger reported the flight diverted to Dallas due to an electrical fire. There was an electrical smell in the cabin, the flight attendants were walking around the cabin with handheld fire extinguishers.

The FAA initially reported, they had no records of such an occurrence, on a follow up by The Aviation Herald the FAA then stated: "We are investigating, but we don't have a report ready that would get into the detail that you're looking for."

A replacement Boeing 757-200 registration N628AA reached Los Angeles with a delay of 2.5 hours.
