A Nepal Airlines de Havilland DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, registration 9N-ABU performing flight RA-135 from Kathmandu to Lamidanda (Nepal) with 15 passengers and 3 crew, was in the initial climb out of Kathmandu's runway 20 when at about 100 feet AGL the right hand engine emitted repeated bangs and streaks of flame. The crew immediately rejected the takeoff and landed the aircraft back on the remaining runway ahead.

The flight was cancelled, the only remaining Twin Otter of Nepal Airlines is going to undergo an engine change.

The airline reported the engine, which had accumulated 250 flight hours, experienced compressor stalls.
