A Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration G-ECOT performing flight BE-805 from Newquay,EN to London Gatwick,EN (UK), was on approach to Gatwick when the crew reported the failure nose gear steering and requested to be towed off the runway after landing. Upon advice by Gatwick Airport the crew diverted to Southampton, 46nm westsouthwest of Gatwick, where the aircraft landed safely and was towed off the runway. The passengers were taken to Gatwick by bus (about 90 miles/139km by road).
