A Yakutia Boeing 737-800, registration VQ-BOY performing flight R3-592 from Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to Irkutsk (Russia) with 159 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL370 about 230nm south of Novosibirsk (Russia) when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine (CFM56) down, drifted down to FL220 and diverted to Novosibirsk for a safe landing on runway 07 about 50 minutes later.

West Siberia's Transport Prosecution Office reported the right hand engine was shut down due to a malfunction. A replacement aircraft was dispatched from Moscow Vnukovo to Novosibirsk.

A replacement Boeing 757-200 registration VP-BFG reached Irkutsk with a delay of 19 hours.

Rosaviatsia reported the crew heard a bang from the right hand side and noticed a decrease on the N1 of the right hand engine just after crossing the border into Russia. The engine was shut down and the aircraft diverted to Novosibirsk.
