A UPS McDonnell Douglas MD-11, registration N294UP performing freight flight 5X-81 from Shanghai Pudong (China) to Anchorage,AK (USA), was climbing out of Shanghai when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 reporting a problem with the #3 engine (PW4460) and returned to Shanghai for a safe landing about one hour after departure.

The incident aircraft resumed service on Aug 22nd 2013 as flight 5X-81D.
