A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-800, registration JA822J performing flight JL-7 from Boston,MA (USA) to Tokyo Narita (Japan), was enroute at FL370 over the Hudson Bay (Canada) when the crew decided to return to Boston. The aircraft burned off fuel at 11,000 feet while descending towards Boston and landed safely on Boston's runway 15R about 2.5 hours later and taxied to the apron.

The airline reported the crew received a maintenance message regarding a fuel pump, unrelated to any battery issue, and decided to return as a precaution.
