A China Airlines Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration B-18720 performing flight CI-5392 (dep Jul 9th) from Anchorage,AK to New York JFK,NY (USA), had landed on runway 22L, had turned off the runway at the end, crossed runway 31L and was taxiing along taxiway Z when the crew advised they would stop due to a gear problem, taxiways J and Z were blocked as result. While an operations vehicle was dispatched to meet the aircraft and have a look, an Aeromexico crew having landed just behind the China Airlines Jumbo reported, that the left main gear of the Boeing 747-400 appeared in an awkward position. The operations vehicle arriving a short time later reported the aircraft was leaking fluid. Tower advised the crew the left main gear appeared as if it had not completely deployed.

The aircraft was unloaded and subsequently towed to the apron a couple of hours after landing.
