An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190, registration C-FHNV performing flight AC-584 from Calgary,AB (Canada) to Newark,NJ (USA) with 98 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 150nm north of Toronto,ON (Canada) when the first officer became incapacitated. The captain declared emergency and diverted the aircraft to Toronto for a safe landing on Toronto's runway 23 about 25 minutes later. The aircraft stopped on the runway.

The Canadian TSB reported the first officer was taken to a hospital, the aircraft was towed to the apron about 20 minutes after landing.

NAV Canada reported that there were numerous airborne holds as result of the emergency.

Passengers reported that the aircraft encountered what appeared to be turbulence some time into the flight. Shortly after a flight attendant asked where a doctor was on board. A passenger with medical background was guided to the cockpit. After some time the passenger guided the restrained first officer to a seat in the front of the passenger cabin, the first officer was screaming for help, he wanted to get off the aircraft, but soon calmed down. They were given hints the first officer may have suffered some sort of seizure.
