An Air Inuit de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-GUAI performing flight 3H-883 from Quaqtaq,QC to La Grande,QC (Canada), was on final approach to La Grande when the crew received an unsafe right main gear indication and went around. After working the checklists the gear could still not be extended and locked, the crew declared emergency and performed a low approach to the airport to have the gear inspected from the ground, which showed the gear was not down. The crew entered another hold attempting to lower the gear and eventually managed to extend and lock the gear followed by a safe landing.

Transport Canada said the area control center had reported the aircraft had landed with the right main gear up, the aircraft however landed safely.

Canada's TSB reported that maintenance identified a problem with the uplock which affected the sequencing of gear during extension.
