An Air Inuit de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration C-FYAI performing flight 3H-847 from Wabush,NL to Chibougamau,QC (Canada) with 15 people on board, was climbing through about 3500 feet out of Wabush when the crew received a right hand engine (PW123) low oil pressure warning, the indicated engine parameters were all normal and oil pressure was indicated at 65 psi. The crew actioned the relevant checklist and shut the engine down, then decided to divert to Sept-Iles,QC (Canada), about 160nm south of Wabush, due to weather. The aircraft landed safely at Sept-Iles about 70 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported that the weather in Wabush was marginal with moderate icing in cloud, while the weather in Sept-Iles was VFR. Maintenance inspected wiring and found no fault. The oil pressure warning light switch was replaced, the engine was ground run, and the aircraft returned to service.
