A Jet2.com Boeing 737-800, registration G-DRTF performing flight LS-3606 from Alicante,SP (Spain) to Bournemouth,EN (UK), was lining up runway 10 and crossing the hold short line when FR-2797 was about 3.8nm before the runway threshold descending through about 1400 feet. About 50 seconds later the aircraft began to accelerate for takeoff and accelerated through about 100 knots over ground about 23 seconds later, when the Ryanair crew initiated their go around.
Spain's CIAIAC reported EI-IJX was preparing to land at Alicante Airport when it had to abort the approach due to finding the runway occupied by another aircraft. The other aircraft was G-DRTF. The CIAIAC opened an investigation into the occurrence.
