A SATA Air Azores de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration CS-TSE performing flight SP-570 from Horta to Flores (Portugal), was climbing out of Horta when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet and declared emergency due a hydraulic failure affecting the landing gear. The crew subsequently decided to turn around and divert to Lajes (Portugal) where the aircraft performed two low approaches to have the landing gear inspected from the ground and landed without further incident.

The aircraft returned to service about 30 hours after landing.
