A Binter Canarias Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration EC-MXQ performing flight NT-283 from Fuerteventura,CI to Las Palmas,CI (Spain), was descending through about 6000 feet towards Las Palmas when the crew declared emergency reporting one of the engines (PW127M) had failed. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on Las Palmas' runway 03L about 10 minutes later.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 46 hours before returning to service.
