Spain's CIAIAC reported that a component was lost from the nose gear steering system during the landing roll, the occurrence was rated an incident and is being investigated by the CIAIAC.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Tenerife 5 days later.
On May 18th 2026 the CIAIAC released their final report in Spanish only (Editorial note: to serve the purpose of global prevention of the repeat of causes leading to an occurrence an additional timely release of all occurrence reports in the only world spanning aviation language English would be necessary, a Spanish only or no release does not achieve this purpose as set by ICAO annex 13 and just forces many aviators to waste much more time and effort each in trying to understand the circumstances leading to the occurrence. Aviators operating internationally are required to read/speak English besides their local language, investigators need to be able to read/write/speak English to communicate with their counterparts all around the globe).
The report concludes the probable causes of the incident were:
The investigation has determined that the cause of the incident was the loss of a component from the nose gear steering mechanism, located on the intermediate torsion bar of the nose gear strut.
During the investigation, it was not possible to determine what caused the component to be lost, although it has been ruled out that the component did not meet its specifications or was affected by corrosion. However, it is considered that the most likely cause is that the nut on this part gradually loosened over time and that the lock washer holding it in place was not installed, which would have facilitated the loss of the part.
The CIAIAC specified that the pin of the intermediate torsion bar on the nose gear strut was lost during landing on runway 30 at Tenerife North resulting in both nose gear tyres to be burst.
