An American Airlines Boeing 787-8, registration N873BB performing flight AA-525 from Miami,FL to New York JFK,NY (USA), was climbing out of Miami's runway 08R when the crew stopped the climb at 5000 feet reporting they had a gear door problem and needed to return to Miami. The aircraft entered a hold while the crew was working on that issue. The aircraft positioned for an approach to runway 09 and was seen with the left main gear bogie tilted the wrong way, however, landed without further incident on the runway.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Miami for 3 days before returning to service.
