A Jetstar Airbus A320-200, registration VH-VGQ performing flight JQ-281 from Auckland to Wellington (New Zealand) with 133 passengers and 6 crew, was on short final to Wellington's runway 34 descending through about 150 feet when the aircraft flew through a flock of black-tipped gulls with a number of birds impacting the aircraft. The crew managed a safe landing on runway 34 and taxied to the gate.

A runway inspection revealed two dead gulls on the runway, another gull was found entangled in one of the main gear struts.
