The aircraft is still on the ground in Ostrava about 18 days later.
On Jan 24th 2024 the UZPLN reported during climb out of Ostrava the crew heard two loud bangs and received PACK 2 VALVE FAULT and ENG 2 BLEED FAULT indications. The autopilot disconnected, a master warning occurred and the right engine fire indication illuminated. The crew worked the related checklists, the fire indication ceased after the second fire bottle was discharged into the engine. A borescopic examination of the engine did not reveal any evidence of any leaks, the engine however showed signs of charring and indications of exposure to extremely high temperatures, the most severe damage was found in the area of the high pressure compressor and high pressure turbine. The engine was removed and sent to Canada for further examination. CVR and FDR were secured and are being analysed.
