A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, flight WN-389 from Denver,CO to New York La Guardia,NY (USA), had just reached cruise level 370 about 140nm east of Denver when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft levelled at 11,000 feet about 7 minutes later (average rate of descent 3700fpm), burned off fuel at 10,000 feet and returned to Denver for a safe landing about 95 minutes after leaving FL370.

A replacement aircraft reached New York as flight WN-8871 with a delay of 5 hours.

A passenger reported the aircraft lost cabin pressure just after reaching cruise level, the passenger oxygen masks came down. The aircraft descended to 10,000 feet, burned off fuel and returned to Denver. A replacement aircraft took them to New York with a delay of 5 hours.
