An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N838NN performing flight AA-2823 from Washington National,DC to Tampa,FL (USA) with 170 people on board, had stopped the climb out of Washington at FL260 and continued at that level for about 55 minutes. The aircraft subsequently climbed to FL300 and was about 40nm west of Jacksonville,FL (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Jacksonville reporting some problem with one of their engines (CFM56). Descending towards Jacksonville the crew advised both engines were running and they expected a normal landing, they would be able to vacate the runway. The aircraft landed safely on Jacksonville's runway 26 about 25 minutes after leaving FL300.

A passenger reported the crew announced they were having some sort of an engine problem that required them to land immediately.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N850NN positioned to Jacksonville, resumed the flight and reached Tampa with a delay of about 10 hours.
