An Air Canada Boeing 767-300, registration C-FTCA performing flight AC-63 from Vancouver,BC (Canada) to Seoul (South Korea) with 211 people on board, was enroute at FL280 about 250nm southeast of Anchorage,AK (USA) about 2 hours into the flight when the crew inadvertently switched two of the three Inertial Reference Systems off. The crew declared PAN due to degraded navigation/autopilot functions and diverted to Anchorage for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported the crew intended to re-align the IRSs at Anchorage and continue the flight. Maintenance however determined the switches were worn and could be moved with little resistance/force. The Inertial Reference Mode Panel was replaced. A fleetwide inspection is under way and flight crew were made aware by flight operations.

The aircraft reached Seoul with a delay of 2.5 hours.
