Calm AT72 at Winnipeg on Aug 4th 2022, alternating gear indications and noise on final approach

A Calm Air International Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, registration C-FMKJ performing flight MO-3071 from Rankin Inlet,NU to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 42 people on board, was on final RNAV approach to Winnipeg's runway 18, performed the landing gear checks normally. Descending through 500 feet AGL the crew observed a red gear unsafe indication, that alternated with all green indications, unusual noise and vibrations were felt from the nose landing gear. The crew went around, performed the related checklist, positioned for another approach and extended the gear again, this time without any anomalies, and completed a landing without further incident.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance found an indication problem on the secondary gear indication system, a proximity sensor was replaced.
