A United Boeing 767-300, registration N677UA performing flight UA-846 from Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina) to Newark,NJ (USA), departed Ezeiza's runway 35 and was climbing through FL100 at 21:24L (00:24Z Dec 3rd) following the standard departure route requiring the aircraft to turn west after takeoff then follow a 10nm DME Ezeiza VOR EZE arc towards the south before turning north.

A LAN Argentina Boeing 767-300, registration LV-CKU performing flight 4M-4591 from Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina), was descending towards Ezeiza through FL100 at 21:24L (00:24Z), when the flight path crossed the trajectory of UA-846.

Both flight crews responded to TCAS resolution advisories, the conflict was resolved and both aircraft continued their flights for safe landings.

Radar data show the separation was 1500 feet vertical (UA-846 lower) and 1.8nm horizontal at 00:24:35Z and was 400 feet vertical (UA-846 higher) and 2.0nm horizontal at 00:25:35Z, in between the trajectories and vertical profiles had crossed.
