An Aliansa Aerolineas Andinas Douglas DC-3, registration HK-2006 performing a flight from Mitu to Monfort Vaupes (Colombia) with 3 crew, suffered an accident while landing at Monfort at 15:07L (21:07Z). There were no injuries, the aircraft received substantial damage however.

Colombia's Aeronautica Civil reported the aircraft "crashed at the time of landing on the Monfort runway." There was no harm to the 3 crew on board (there were no passengers), the aircraft however was substantially damaged. An investigation has been opened, investigators travelled on site.

No further information is currently known.

The distance between Mitu and Monfort is about 46nm, Monfort located at the border to Brazil and to the southeast of Mitu.

Colombia's Aerocivil released their preliminary report in Spanish reporting that the aircraft was on approach to Monfort's runway 35 intending to make a short landing. As result the right hand main gear hit a mound of earth at the threshold of runway 35, which changed the trajectory of the aircraft which skidded along the runway and came to a stop 150 meters past the runway threshold at a heading of 120 degrees at position N0.6234 W69.7483 (editorial note: Aerocivil actually reports the position at N0.625 W73.2425 which appears to be a mixture of coordinates of Monfort Aerodrome in Vaupes district (north coordinate) and Monfort, Meta district (West 73 coordinate), consequently Aerocivil also reports runway 17 and 35 reversed with the North direction turned almost 180 degrees, while the aerial photos provided by Aerocivil clearly permit to identify the location and runway 35 with the mentioned Papuri River (border to Brazil) south of the aerodrome, not north, when checking with available satellite images).

Aerocivil further reported that following the accident, which left noone injured, the captain of the flight travelled via the river to the villaga of Piracuara from where he was able to notify his operator, who in turn notified Aerocivil and Colombia's GRIAA (accident investigation).
