A Spirit Airlines Airbus A320-200N, registration N922NK performing flight NK-264 from Houston Intercontinental,TX to Fort Lauderdale,FL (USA), departed Houston's runway 15L but struck a coyote on the runway. The crew stopped the climb at 16,000 feet and returned to Houston for a safe landing on runway 27 about 35 minutes after departure.

The aircraft departed again after about 90 minutes on the ground and reached Fort Lauderdale with a delay of about 100 minutes.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK A COYOTE DURING DEPARTURE, HOUSTON, TX.", the aircraft received unknown damage.
