An Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190, registration C-FMZR performing flight AC-1104 from Winnipeg,MB to Ottawa,ON (Canada) with 79 people on board, had departed Winnipeg's runway 13 and was in the initial climb when the crew attempted to selected the gear lever up but was unable to move the gear lever. The crew levelled off at 4000 feet MSL, worked the relevant checklists and decided to return to Winnipeg for a safe landing on runway 13 with emergency services on stand by about 26 minutes after departure.

The Canadian TSB reported that all indications remained normal, the crew could not move the gear lever however. Maintenance replaced the #1 Secondary Power Distribution Assembly DC power module. A subsequent gear swing confirmed normal operation.

A replacement ERJ-190 reached Ottawa with a delay of 2:15 hours.
