An Air France Airbus A320-200, registration F-GKXN performing flight AF-1744 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (France) to Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia), was enroute at FL330 about 50nm northeast of Frankfurt/Main (Germany) when the crew turned the aircraft around to return to Paris due to the temperature control of the air conditioning system failing. The aircraft descended to FL320 initially, but when it became extremely cold in the cabin the crew descended the aircraft to FL100 for the return. The aircraft landed safely back in Paris about 2:15 hours after departure.

Passengers had reported the crew announced there had been a fight at the flight deck prior to departure, the aircraft had returned to the gate and the flight crew was replaced. After the aircraft finally departed they needed to return about one hour after departure when it became extremely cold with the windows freezing over.

The airline denied there had been any brawl on the flight deck of the aircraft. The aircraft departed, but then there had been a problem with the temperature control of the aircraft's air conditioning system prompting the return to Paris. A new aircraft with a new crew took the passengers to Moscow.

A replacement A320-200 registration F-GKXJ reached Moscow with a delay of about 7 hours.
