An Envoy Embraer ERJ-145, registration N668HH performing flight AA-3492 from Moline,IL to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 49 passengers and 3 crew, was in the initial climb out of Moline's runway 27 when the crew declared Mayday Mayday reporting a bird strike and requesting an immediate return to Moline. Tower cleared the aircraft to maneouver on own discretion and cleared to land runway 09 or 27. The crew stopped the climb at 2800 feet reporting they were in IMC and requested an ILS approach to runway 27. The crew advised both engines (Ae3007) were still running, they would be able to vacate the runway and taxi to the apron. The aircraft positioned for a safe landing on runway 27 about 12 minutes after departure. Tower subsequently advised the runway inspection the bird strike, Canada geese (actually, tower said "Canadian geese") appeared to be abeam the intersection of runway 27 with taxiway H (near the runway end).

The FAA reported the aircraft received unknown damage when it struck a bird on takeoff.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 54 hours after landing back.
