A Windrose Aviation Embraer ERJ-145, registration UR-DNR performing flight 7W-759 from Kiev (Ukraine) to Bucharest Otopeni (Romania), was climbing through FL250 out of Kiev when the crew received an luggage compartment smoke indication and an acoustic alarm simultaneously. The crew activated the fire suppression system, declared PAN PAN and returned to Kiev for a safe landing at +1.32G slightly above maximum landing weight. Emergency services did not detect any fire or smoke, the smoke detector indication was determined false.

Ukraine's NBAAI reported a post flight visual inspection revealed moisture and significant oxidation on the electric connector of as well as signficant oxidation on the sensor of the smoke detector. It was determined the indication was caused by significant moisture and oxidation on the electrical connector of the smoke detector.
