A Chautauqua Airlines Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N278SK performing flight RP-6070/DL-6070 from New York JFK,NY to Rochester,NY (USA), was climbing out of JFK's runway 22R when the crew reported they suspected a blown nose gear tyre and requested a runway inspection. At FL220 the crew was told that the inspection did not reveal any debris on the runway and decided to return to JFK. The aircraft landed safely on JFK's runway 22L about 40 minutes after departure.

It turned out that an object had been left attached to the outside of the aircraft by ground crew, the object banging the fuselage of the aircraft.

The aircraft departed again about 60 minutes after landing and reached Rochester with a delay of 75 minutes.
