An Indigo Airbus A320-200N, registration VT-ITU performing flight 6E-162 from Goa to Ahmedabad (India) with 180 people on board, was climbing out of Goa when the crew stopped the climb at FL280 and drifted down to FL240 due to a left hand engine (PW1127G) problem. The aircraft returned to Goa for a safe landing about 50 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft was still on the ground in Goa about 10 hours after landing.

On Mar 31st 2020 India's DGCA reported the occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by India's DGCA. The left hand engine suffered an engine stall along with high EGT and high vibrations. A post flight inspection revealed damaged low pressure turbine stage 3 blades.
