A Sunexpress Boeing 737-800, registration D-ASXY performing flight XG-2076 from Heraklion (Greece) to Dusseldorf (Germany) with 189 passengers and 6 crew, was on approach to Dusseldorf when the crew stopped the descent at 5000 feet due to problems with the flaps. The crew decided to divert to Cologne (Germany) for the longer runway available, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 14L at a higher than normal speed (about 200 knots over ground), vacated the runway at the second last exit and stopped clear of the runway. Emergency services checked the aircraft, that was able to taxi to the apron afterwards.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Cologne for about 6 hours, then departed to Samsun (Turkey).
