A Sunexpress Boeing 737-800, registration D-ASXR performing flight XG-4916 from Hurghada (Egypt) to Hanover (Germany), was enroute at FL360 about 110nm southeast of Budapest (Hungary) when a passenger became ill prompting the crew to declare medical emergency and divert to Budapest. While on approach to Budapest's runway 31R the first officer became ill, too, and was unable to continue duties. The captain continued for a safe landing on runway 31R.

On May 8th 2018 Germany's BFU reported in their January Bulletin that the first officer suffered from food poisoning. The BFU have opened an investigation into the occurrence rated a serious incident.
