An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N974AN performing flight AA-1388 from Chicago O'Hare,IL to Miami,FL (USA) with 148 passengers, one observer in the cockpit and 6 crew, was on final approach to Miami's runway 09, number three in sequence when cleared to land, when tower instructed the aircraft to go around. The crew initiated the go-around from about 600 feet MSL, climbed to 3000 feet and was vectored for another ILS approach to runway 09. On downwind the crew reported they had ingested a bird into an engine (CFM56). The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 09 and vacated the runway.

The airline confirmed a bird strike just prior to landing, the aircraft carried 145 people on board.
