A Eurowings Airbus A320-200, registration D-AIZS performing flight EW-9466 from Dusseldorf (Germany) to London Heathrow,EN (UK), was in the initial climb out of Dusseldorf's runway 23L climbing through about 1200 feet MSL when the crew received a TCAS resolution advisory to climb and complied with the advisory. After being clear of conflict the aircraft continued to London for a safe landing.

In their July 2018 bulletin Germany's BFU reported an ultra light aircraft was enroute at 2000 feet MSL crossing the control zone near the extended center line of runway 23L, the minimum separation between the two aircraft reduced to 0 feet vertical and 0.4nm horizontal. The ultra light crossed the flight path of the A320 just behind the A320 at a distance of 0.266nm and 300 feet vertical.

The ultra light aircraft had approached the control zone of Dusseldorf earlier and was in contact with Dusseldorf tower requesting to cross the control zone from reporting point E direct to M, the pilot reported in post flight interviews he had the climbing A320 in sight. Tower, who dealt with high traffic volume, intended to permit the ultralight to enter the control zone at E and exit at point N, cleared the aircraft to enter the control zone at E and proceed to the aerodrome to find a matching gap for the crossing. He expected the aircraft to proceed to the aerodrome, report before reaching the aerodrome and enter a hold before crossing over the aerodrome. He observed the aircraft 2nm south of the airfield, then got busy with a number of landing and takeoff clearances. When he saw the ultra light again it had already flown into the departure sector of runway 23L in which the A320 was just climbing out. He radioed the ultralight with the intention to turn it away.
