An Edelweiss Airbus A320-200, registration HB-IJW performing flight 8R-402 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Pristina (Kosovo) with 172 passengers and 6 crew, was climbing through FL310 out of Zurich when the crew decided to return to Zurich due to some engine (CFM56) trouble. The aircraft descended to FL250, burned off fuel and landed safely on Zurich's runway 28 about 100 minutes after departure.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Zurich about 13.5 hours after landing back.

The airline reported the aircraft returned to Zurich due to irregularities with an engine control, the crew burned off fuel for about 1.5 hours to reduce the landing weight and landed safely. A replacement aircraft is estimated to take the passengers to Pristina in the evening departing with a delay of about 15 hours.
